Girl, 9, Groped At Trumbull Mall: PD

TRUMBULL, CT — A Shelton teen was arrested after he groped a 9-year-old girl at Target in the Trumbull Mall over the weekend, according to police.

The incident happened in the children's clothing section of the store around 3 p.m. Sunday. The mother was on her phone at the time when her daughter came up to her terrified and said a man had grabbed her buttocks two times, said Capt. Keith Golding, police spokesman.

The mother confronted Ameer Stewart, 18, who ignored her and tried to walk away. The mother notified security who contacted police. Police viewed security video and found Stewart in another area of the mall a short time later. He attempted to escape, but was caught, Golding said.

Stewart is charged with fourth-degree sexual assault, risk of injury to a minor and breach of peace. He was held in lieu of $5,000 bail.
