BRIDGEPORT – Housatonic Community College President Anita T. Gliniecki of Monroe has been awarded the August F. Serra community engagement award from the United Way of Coastal Fairfield County.
Gliniecki, who is retiring in August after serving as HCC’s President since 2006, received the award for excellence in community engagement work.
Her involvement in the community includes serving as president of the Bridgeport Rotary and chair of the Bridgeport Higher Education Alliance, as well as serving on the boards of the Bridgeport YMCA, The Workplace, the Bridgeport Public Education Fund, the United Way, the Business Council of Fairfield County’s Education and Business Leaders, the International Women’s Forum, and Juneteenth.

In addition, she is a former member of the National Commission on Academic, Student, and Community Development of the American Association of Community Colleges.
