Herbst Taunts Ted Kennedy Jr.

Herbst called Kennedy Jr. 'Dan Malloy on steroids."

TRUMBULL, CT — Potential Republican gubernatorial candidate First Selectman Tim Herbst said he hopes Democratic Branford State Sen. Ted Kennedy Jr. makes a run for governor.

Herbst said he doesn't believe the Kennedy name will help him much and that he is Gov. Dannel Malloy on steroids and out of touch, according to the Connecticut Post.

He also mocked Kennedy's proposed bill to make cow manure a renewable energy resource in the state.

Herbst raised $83,000 in the first quarter of 2017 for his exploratory committee for state office, which could include a potential run for governor.

He was recently diagnosed with an early stage of thyroid cancer, but said he doesn't expect to be slowed down by the disease.
