Intoxicated Motorist Thought Officer Was Uber Driver: PD

Trumbull officers arrested the teen New Years Day after he crashed into a tree, according to police.

TRUMBULL, CT — An intoxicated Trumbull motorist got a free ride after New Years Day reveling, but it wasn't the service he had ordered.

Police were called to October Lane at 1:43 a.m. after a homeowner said a person trying to get into his house, police said. Another person called and said a truck had crashed into a tree at the end of his driveway.

Arin Lara, 18, of Trumbull asked an officer if he was his Uber driver, police said. An officer noticed an empty vodka bottle in the vehicle.

He failed field sobriety tests and was placed under arrest, according to police. His BAC levels were .190 and .187.

He was charged with DUI and failure to drive right.
