Jeweler Robbed By Fake Cops In Trumbull: PD
A traveling jewelry salesman was stopped and robbed by suspects who pretended to be police.

TRUMBULL, CT — A pair of armed men who pretended to be police stole several thousand dollars worth of jewelry from a traveling salesman, according to police.
The 59-year-old New York victim had finished a business visit at a Bridgeport jewelry store and was driving to another nearby location, said Deputy Chief Glenn Byrnes. He was stopped on Penney Avenue by a dark colored sedan with flashing grill lights.
One man displayed a handgun and put it to the victim's head while threatening him not to move, Byrnes said. A case containing several thousand dollars worth of assorted jewelry was taken. The men fled the scene in their sedan.
