The single biggest issue in town is ______, and I plan to do this about it:
I believe it is critical to keep politics out of our education system. It is the responsibility of the Board of Education to provide a public school system that focuses on education excellence for all students that fosters a safe space for creative and diverse exchange of ideas.
Critical differences between me and my opponents:
I do not have children in the school system and I believe that allows me to remain impartial for tough decisions. I bring to the table "out of the box" thinking to our education system. I believe some folks get stuck in a rut using the same methods year after year. I also believe there is a need to have someone with a keen sense of fiscal responsibility.
Accomplishments:
I have more than twenty years of professional communications experience. I started my career at ABC News in New York where I had the opportunity to learn and grow as a communicator from the very best in the radio and television industry. Once I moved to Trumbull, I shifted gears to care for my children while maintaining a strong sense of community service. I have served on many charitable boards including MOMS Club of Trumbull, IMPACTrumbull, and and Lakewood-Trumbull YMCA. I volunteered more than 1000 hours to Trumbull Town Hall as the Communications Director and I now proudly serve on the Trumbull Police Commission.
Other issues:
I support the introduction to world language in kindergarten to remain competitive with our surrounding communities. I support later school times for our high school students because there is overwhelming evidence that supports the change. I support an actionable plan to upgrade our school buildings to the 21st century in a fiscally responsible way because our schools must move forward with the times.
What else would you like voters to know about you?
The most important aspect of my campaign that I want to convey is that I do not want to play politics with our education system. I support education excellence and will remain unflappable and focused on meeting the needs of our students in a bipartisan fashion.
