Longtime Trumbull High School Coach Elected to Hall of Honor

He and six other honorees will be feted at a special ceremony in late October.

TRUMBULL, CT — A longtime coach and teacher from Trumbull will be one of seven honorees in the second class of the Connecticut Association of Schools-Connecticut Interscholastic Athletic Conference Hall of Honor.

Ray Faustich has earned numerous honors and accolades as a leader in the officiating community for many years and had a decorated career as a coach and teacher at Trumbull High School, as well as a tenure as the athletic director at Ridgefield High School. He has made significant contributions to high school athletics as a mentor, instructor, interpreter and assignor of baseball umpires.

  • Katharine “Kit” Bishop, Westbrook
  • Robert “Jiggs” Cecchini, Suffield
  • Al Cramer, Newtown
  • Tom Monahan, Bristol
  • Charles Sharos, South Windsor
  • Ivan Wood, Plainville

Monahan, Sharos and Wood will be honored posthumously.

The CAS-CIAC Hall of Honor was established to honor individuals who have made significant long-term contributions to CAS-CIAC in one of seven categories: educational leadership, athletic leadership, friend of education, contribution to education, contribution to athletics, service to education, or service to athletics.

The induction will take place Saturday, Oct. 29 at 6 p.m. at the Aqua Turf Club in Southington. Tickets to the event may be purchased here.
