Longtime Trumbull School Crossing Guard Retires

She helped students safely cross the street for more than 30 years.

TRUMBULL, CT — Longtime Trumbull school crossing guard Shirley Sagliano recently retired from her position after nearly 37 years.

Sagliano helped the kids safely cross the street for the last time on June 2 at Middlebrooks School. She first heard about the position in 1982 from a friend and got involved by first helping children at Daniel's Farm School. She then worked at Jane Ryan Elementary and spent the past 30 years at Middlebrooks.

She decided to retire from the position in order to spend more time with her family.
