Magnet School Tuition Lawsuit on Pause

A lawsuit filed by Monroe, Stratford, Trumbull, Shelton and Fairfield against Bridgeport BOE is on hold.

A lawsuit filed by Monroe, Stratford, Trumbull, Shelton and Fairfield against the Bridgeport Board of Education is on hold for now.

The judge put things on hold for now because the school systems didn't file a petition with the Commissioner of Education to reconsider her position to allow Bridgeport to charge $3,000 per student for out of town students, according to the Monroe Courier. The petition was filed in April, but there may have been a timing issue.

The charges goes to school systems and was pitched as a way for Bridgeport to recoup costs. But now Bridgeport may get more Education Cost Sharing funds from the state.
