Man, 22, Dies In Fiery Car Crash On Route 111 In Trumbull: Police
Trumbull police said the Bridgeport man's car was on fire and entangled with an electrical utility pole when officers arrived in the area.
TRUMBULL, CT — A 22-year-old Bridgeport man was killed in a fiery car crash late Monday afternoon in Trumbull, according to police.
In a news release, Police Lt. Brian Weir said Xavier Miller, 22, of Bridgeport, was the driver and sole occupant of an Infiniti that collided with a Subaru Crosstrek driven by a Trumbull woman on Monroe Turnpike (Route 111).
Police received several calls around 4 p.m. reporting a serious vehicle accident in the area of Monroe Turnpike at the intersection of Technology Drive, Weir said.

When officers arrived in the area, they found both vehicles heavily damaged. Crews initially had difficulty accessing the Infiniti, which was on fire and entangled with an electrical utility pole, to determine if any occupants were inside, Weir said.
The Long Hill and Trumbull Center Fire Departments also responded and helped extinguish the fire.

The driver of the Subaru was taken to Bridgeport Hospital to receive treatment for non-life threatening injuries, Weir said. No other injuries were reported.
According to Weir, Miller was driving south on Monroe Turnpike before his vehicle collided with the Subaru. Both vehicles came to rest near Technology Drive and the accident scene spanned that intersection of Route 111.
At approximately 9:30 p.m., the area of Monroe Turnpike between Route 25 and the Monroe town line had been partially reopened and was expected to be clear by Tuesday morning, Weir said.
