Man Abandoned Niece at Trumbull Mall: PD

TRUMBULL, CT—Police arrested a Oakland Gardens, N.Y. man after he abandoned his niece in a play area at the Trumbull mall, according to police.

Hui Yung Wang was watching the child while the mother was at work. He left the 6-year-old unattended in the play area for about 90 minutes, police said.

A DCF worker in the area witnessed the child alone and contacted mall security who then contacted police.

Wang returned and the child's mother came to pick her daughter up.

Wang was charged with risk of injury to a minor.

"Trumbull Police would like to remind the public to never leave a child unattended," said Lt. Keith Golding, police spokesman. "It takes only seconds for a tragedy to occur."
