Man Abducted, Assaulted Ex-Girlfriend: Trumbull PD

The assault included strangulation and a wrench, police said.

TRUMBULL, CT — A Stratford man was arrested after a violent domestic assault against his ex-girlfriend, according to police. The 21-year-old victim said she called her ex David Gonzalez, 24, after her car broke down on Quarry Road June 11.

A protective order was in place preventing Gonzalez from contacting or seeing the victim, said Lt. Douglas Smith, police spokesman.

Gonzalez arrived, but became angry when he saw phone conversations the woman was having with another man, the woman told police.

Gonzalez took her keys and phone and the woman entered his vehicle in an attempt to retrieve them, Smith said.

Gonzalez punched her and then began driving away with her in the vehicle, Smith said. He also struck her in the ankle with a wrench in an attempt to prevent her from fleeing. He also wrapped an electrical cord around her neck and strangled her, police said.

She eventually clawed at his face and forced him to stop. She was then pushed from the vehicle near Golden Hill Street in Bridgeport.

Police noted her injuries were consistent with her account of the incident.

Gonzalez was apprehended June 21 at his place of work. He was charged with kidnapping in the first degree, strangulation and assault in the second degree, criminal violation of a protective order and disorderly conduct. He was held on a $250,000 bond.
