Man Arrested for Trumbull Mall Robbery Attempt: PD

The man is believed to be a suspect in at least one other robbery, police said.

TRUMBULL, CT- Police have arrested a man who is suspected of attempting to rob the Icing store in the Trumbull mall.

The attempt occurred on April 20 and the man walked away with no cash after an employee didn't open the register, police said. It wasn't clear whether or not he was armed.

The next day Trumbull Police got a call from Derby Police about a robbery at Walmart. Derby investigators believed their suspect was the same man, but couldn't identify him.

Shelton Police then arrested Christopher Alston, 28, of Waterbury on May 31 after he was spotted casing the Shelton Walmart, police said.

Trumbull Police interviewed Alston and he confessed to the Trumbull robbery attempt, but said he didn't remember having a BB gun on his person. He was charged with criminal attempt at first-degree robbery and second-degree breach of peace.
