Man Impaled by Ladder in Trumbull Recalls Rescue Operation

The rescue took nearly an hour and a half and involved dozens of first responders, trauma surgeons and others.

A man who was impaled by a ladder in Trumbull last week said he expected to die, but thankfully first responders, surgeons and others prevented that from happening.

Tony Ferreira, 55, was cutting a tree when a large log came down in the wrong direction and caused his leg to be impaled by a ladder, according to NBC Connecticut.

Long Hill firefighters had a complex rescue operation and were assisted by trauma surgeons and tree experts on scene.
