Man Killed After Being Struck By Vehicle: Trumbull PD

The man was killed after he was backed over by a vehicle, police said.

TRUMBULL, CT — An Easton man was killed after he was struck by a vehicle at the Trumbull Transfer Station Friday.

Alexander Trup, 73, was unloading debris from his vehicle around noon when he was struck by a car operated by Edward Socha, 92, of Trumbull, said Capt. Keith Golding, police spokesman.

"Witnesses said that Socha was backing toward the building to unload material when his vehicle lurched backward struck Trup, knocking him to the ground," Golding said. "The car continued to travel backward in a circle and backed over him."

Trup was transported to Bridgeport Hospital with a number of injuries.

Police continue to investigate the incident.
