Massage Spa Chain Closes Trumbull Location

TRUMBULL, CT — A popular massage spa chain with a number of locations across Connecticut recently closed its only Trumbull location.

Economic and Community Development Director Rina Bakalar confirmed Tuesday to Patch that Massage Envy, located at 51 Monroe Turnpike, has closed.

According to Bakalar, the massage spa is set to be replaced by an expansion of the neighboring Prime One Eleven restaurant, as well as a new business that will soon be announced.

The business was closed during regular business hours Sunday and already appeared to be cleared out.

A message to members sent to Patch by Massage Envy noted the independently owned and operated Trumbull/Monroe franchised location serviced clients through Feb. 1, however the location's franchisee "made the difficult decision to permanently close."

The message also noted members should no longer be charged their monthly membership fee as of Jan. 17 and they will not accrue additional monthly Wellness Services as of that date, however their membership and Wellness Agreement "will otherwise continue to be effective until April 2, 2026...At that time, your membership will automatically cancel unless you have transferred it to any of the Massage Envy franchised locations nationwide."

Massage Envy currently operates 13 locations in Connecticut, which includes spas in Shelton, Fairfield, Milford, Norwalk, Stamford, Hamden, Southbury, Brookfield, Canton, Cromwell, Farmington, South Windsor and West Hartford.

The Trumbull location is no longer listed on the business' website.
