A passerby noticed the two young children and flagged down a passing Trumbull officer around 5:40 p.m., said Lt. Brian Weir, police spokesman. The two children who were 2 and 4-years-old were playing on a cellphone.

Mother Yonneisha Reed, 29, returned and said she had left the children alone for five minutes, Weird said. The car door was left unlocked.
