Dr. Claudio Borghesan, 76, of Trumbull, Connecticut passed away on September 15th at Bridgeport Hospital. He leaves his wife, Patricia (nee Sparks), sons Dario and Emilio, and grandson Luca. He was born in Rome, Italy, in 1940.
The son and grandson of physicians he received his degree in Medicine and Surgery from the University of Palermo in 1965. He immigrated to the United States in 1970 and interned at New York Medical College followed by residencies at Manhattan Eye Ear and Throat Hospital and Jefferson Medical School. A board certified otolaryngologist and fellow of the American Academy of Ophthalmology and Otolaryngology, he opened a private practice affiliated with Mercy Hospital in Springfield, Massachusetts in 1976. In 1993, Claudio and his family relocated to Connecticut where he continued his private practice affiliated with St. Vincent's Hospital until his retirement in 2010. Claudio was a devoted father and husband, taking great pride in his family.

An avid and self-taught mariner, Claudio was happiest sailing the New England and Canadian coasts with his family in summer and tinkering with his boat in the winter. He visited six different continents and cultivated a love of adventure in his children. He loved music and had a keen eye for photography. Claudio had a zest for life, compassion for others and a strong moral compass.Memorial contributions may be made to the Geriatric Institute Fund at Bridgeport Hospital, 267 Grant Street, Bridgeport, Connecticut 06610. Calling hours will be on Friday, September 23, from 4-8 at the Cyril F. Mullins Funeral Home on 399 White Plains Road in Trumbull followed by a funeral on Saturday, September 24th at 10am, Christ the King Church, Trumbull 4700 Madison Avenue.
