TRUMBULL, CT — (From Adzima Funeral Home): Kenneth E. Kaffen, 83, entered into his eternal rest on Friday September 8, 2023, in Ludlowe Center for Health & Rehabilitation in Fairfield with family at his bedside. He resided in Shelton for over 50 years before moving to Trumbull in 2020. He was the devoted husband of 58 years to Julie (Biafore) Kaffen.

Ken was born in Stratford on April 30, 1940, the son of the late Edward J. Kaffen and Elizabeth (Jacko) Kaffen. He graduated Stratford High School, The University of Connecticut and The University of Bridgeport with a master’s in education.

He began his career as a classroom Science teacher at Bullard Havens Vocational Technical School in Bridgeport and then became a guidance counselor. He was an Assistant coach of both the Bullard Havens football and basketball teams in the 1960’s and 1970’s.

Ken left teaching in 1984 to open The Kaffen Company, an epoxy flooring business, that he operated until his retirement in 2012. Throughout his retirement years, he kept very active doing part time consulting.

He was a sports enthusiast who never missed a UCONN women’s basketball game. He enjoyed British sports cars, especially Triumphs, and loved spending weekends at the family cottage, on the water, in Branford. One of Ken’s favorite pastimes was watching Jeopardy. Although he was no Ken Jennings, he could certainly hold his own. He will be greatly missed.
