Obituary: Melville F. Hobson Jr., 89, Of Trumbull

Melville F. Hobson, Jr., age 89, of Trumbull, passed away peacefully on May 18 at Bridgeport Hospital surrounded by his family. Mr. Hobson was born in Bridgeport to the late Melville F. Hobson Sr and Genevieve (Mckeon) Hobson.

Prior to his retirement he was an engineer at Moore Special Tool Company. In his earlier years he was a mentor for Junior Achievement. Mr. Hobson loved to watch women’s college basketball, especially his "girls," the UCONN Huskies. He loved to garden, build things, he was a wonderful handyman, always on his feet tinkering in his workshop or in the yard.

He cherished his family, grandchildren and great grandchildren. He was always in a happy mood and quite the jokester. He was so proud of his children and grandchildren and their accomplishments. He loved hanging out with his "boys," fishing, working on home building projects and enjoying some beers and a cigar.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 67 years, Carole (Hoyt) Hobson, who he loved so much; three devoted children Wayne Hobson Sr. and his wife Debra; Linda Galuardi (Hobson) and her husband Tony; David Hobson and his wife Alicia. Seven loving grandchildren: Ashley Martin and husband Brian; Wayne Hobson Jr and wife Melissa; Ryan Hobson and wife Rachel; Sarah Korwek and husband Dan; Grayson Galuardi and Kristen Galuardi; Aidan Hobson. Nine cherished great grandchildren Casey, Emma, Riley, Wesley, Grady, Carson, Brody, Harrison and Baby Hobson; and several nieces and nephews.

Friends are invited to attend his funeral mass on Wednesday, May 24 at 11 a.m. at St. Theresa’s Church, 5301 Main Street, Trumbull CT. Interment will follow at Long Hill Cemetery. At the request of the family, calling hours have been omitted. Arrangements in care of Cyril F Mullins Funeral Home 399 White Plains Road, Trumbull CT.
