TRUMBULL, CT — The 2023 municipal election is heating up in Trumbull and there are plenty of local races with candidates eager to serve in elected office.

Trumbull Patch asked candidates to answer questions about their campaigns and will be publishing candidate profiles as Election Day draws near.

Democrat Kelly Mallozzi, 53, is a Trumbull resident running for Town Council in District 6.

What is your occupation?

Sales and marketing consultant.

Do you have a family? If so, please tell us about them.

Husband Massimo (almost 16 years married), twin daughters Graziella and Giuliana are 13 and twin boys Gianluca and Vincenzo are 10.

Does anyone in your family work in politics or government?

No.

Have you ever held a public office, whether appointive or elective?

Currently serving on Town Council, served on the library board prior to election in 2021.

Now we'd like to ask a few questions about your reasons for running and your general views on politics and government. First, why are you seeking this office?

Serving as a Town Council member is a great honor and a great responsibility. I want to ensure that each person in Trumbull enjoys the amenities and services we offer in a fair and equitable way. This includes the education system. the parks, the library, and other town departments

Please complete this statement: The single most pressing issue facing my constituents is ___, and this is what I intend to do about it.

Enjoying a high quality of life by continuing to advocate for education, parks, the library and other amenities that we all fund with our taxes. This will keep the quality of life, as well as property values very high.

What are the major differences between you and the other candidates seeking this post?

I am committed. I do the work. I show up. I ask questions. I stay focused on making sure that we deliver a high quality of services to every person in Trumbull. My attendance and voting record reflect this.

If you are challenging an incumbent, in what way has the current officeholder failed the community?

By not attending all committee meetings, hearings and council meetings, many incumbents on the other side are failing us all.

What other issues do you intend to address during your campaign?

Equity and inclusion in the education system. Finding a solution to the location and building of a community center that will serve all Trumbull residents.

What accomplishments in your past would you cite as evidence you can handle this job?

Impeccable attendance. Asking a lot of questions. Showing up to all meetings and listening.

What is the best advice anyone ever gave you?

Trust but verify.

Is there anything else you would like voters to know about yourself and your positions?

I want the job. I am doing the job. I will continue to show up, care, do my homework, and make decisions I feel are best for everyone in Trumbull.
