TRUMBULL, CT — The 2023 municipal election is heating up in Trumbull and there are plenty of local races with candidates eager to serve in elected office.

Trumbull Patch asked candidates to answer questions about their campaigns and will be publishing candidate profiles as Election Day draws near.

Democrat Nan Swan, 57, is a Trumbull resident running for Town Council in District 5.

Director, Freepoint Commodities LLC 12+ years.

Do you have a family? If so, please tell us about them.

Son - Michael (22) and Daughter Emma (19).

Does anyone in your family work in politics or government?

No.

Have you ever held a public office, whether appointive or elective?

No.

Now we'd like to ask a few questions about your reasons for running and your general views on politics and government. First, why are you seeking this office?

I'm running to support our education professionals, seniors and measured suburban development.

Please complete this statement: The single most pressing issue facing my constituents is ___, and this is what I intend to do about it.

Maintaining a stellar educational standard, supporting our Seniors and maintaining strong fiscal responsibility and transparency and keeping taxes modest.

What are the major differences between you and the other candidates seeking this post?

Transparency and truth of the facts.

What other issues do you intend to address during your campaign?

Vickie Tesoro's strong commitment to fiscal responsibility and efforts to keep tax increases to a minimum. Trumbull's strong appeal to people moving to CT - -People are choosing Trumbull.

What accomplishments in your past would you cite as evidence you can handle this job?

25+ years of professional corporate administration and I have lived in Trumbull all my life, I was born and raise here and returned "home" to raise my children. I love this town and I only want to do what is best for Trumbull and will work hard to meet that objective.

What is the best advice anyone ever gave you?

Work hard and work thoughtfully.

Is there anything else you would like voters to know about yourself and your positions?

I believe in transparency, a high moral standard and commitment.
