TRUMBULL, CT — The 2023 municipal election is heating up in Trumbull and there are plenty of local races with candidates eager to serve in elected office.

Trumbull Patch asked candidates to answer questions about their campaigns and will be publishing candidate profiles as Election Day draws near.

Republican Rosemary Seaman, 76, is a Trumbull resident running for the Board of Finance.

Education

BS in Elem. Ed., MA in Sp. Ed. & 6th yr in Admin. ; a Sp. Ed. teacher in most of our elem. schools; A House prin. at THS & for over 20 yrs the prin. of Hillcrest M.S. ; served in Trumbull on the Bd. of Finance, Bd of Ed. and currently am a trustee for our Trumbull Library system; adjunct professor for UCONN's NEAG school of Education for graduate students.

Retired Educator 42 yrs of experience.

My husband Richard was a school psychologist, we raised 2 children, educated in the Trumbull schools & have 4 grandchildren.

Does anyone in your family work in politics or government?

No.

Have you ever held a public office, whether appointive or elective?

Previously explained.

Now we'd like to ask a few questions about your reasons for running and your general views on politics and government. First, why are you seeking this office?

I know that my past experience on several boards, my principalship, and living in Trumbull for over 50 yrs, places me in a very unique position. I know that I am someone who seeks to find ways to unite opposing sides and bring about resolutions.

Please complete this statement: The single most pressing issue facing my constituents is ___, and this is what I intend to do about it.

Taxes- I intend to carefully re-evaluate and re-allocate our spending with respect to our increased population vs expected revenue growth, aligned with our residents quality of life.

What are the major differences between you and the other candidates seeking this post?

My past board based experience in serving our community and as a principal who has demonstrated fiscal responsibility in creating and working within that yearly budget.

If you are challenging an incumbent, in what way has the current officeholder failed the community?

I believe that the Republican United for Trumbull team is presenting a slate that have candidates who go beyond their specific party affiliation to make decisions for what is best for Trumbull.
