Rutigliano To Seek Re-Election To State House

State Rep. David Rutigliano has declared his intention to seek re-election to the Connecticut House of Representatives in November.

TRUMBULL, CT — State Rep. David Rutigliano has declared his intention to seek re-election to the Connecticut House of Representatives in November.

In a news release provided by his campaign, Rutigliano highlighted his work thus far representing the 123rd district of Trumbull in the General Assembly.

"I have a proven record of advocating for working families, our students, and state entrepreneurs," Rutigliano said in a news release. "I've worked tirelessly to foster an economic environment that makes Connecticut more affordable and fosters the growth of good-paying jobs. I've championed initiatives such as the elimination of the state income tax on pensions and social security."

Rutigliano also emphasized there is "much more to do, and I want to continue that fight. I am concerned with the direction of our state and the top issue by far for Trumbull families is affordability, and the cost of everything in Connecticut, especially food, fuel, housing and many other essential products. I hear it every day when I talk to people in Trumbull."

Rutigliano, the owner/culinary director of a local restaurant group comprising the Sitting Duck Tavern, Local Kitchen & Beer Bar and SBC in Milford, brings over 25 years of business experience to his candidacy, and his establishments employ approximately 300 people in Connecticut, according to his campaign.

A resident of Trumbull for many years, Rutigliano also serves on the board of the Trumbull Little League.

In the legislature, Rutigliano serves as the ranking member of the General Law Committee, while also holding positions on the Appropriations and Executive and Legislative Nominations Committees.

He is a member of the I/DD Caucus, advocating for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities, according to his campaign.

Rutigliano's leadership has also been acknowledged with his appointment as Deputy Minority Leader by House Leader Vincent Candelora.

"I am particularly proud of my efforts to safeguard first responders," Rutigliano said, "including co-sponsoring landmark cancer legislation benefiting our firefighters and measures aimed at enhancing the recruitment and retention of police officers."

Furthermore, Rutigliano is a member of the bipartisan Fire and EMS Caucus, advocating for the needs of emergency service providers. He has supported legislation establishing a task force to address the shortage of firefighters and emergency medical services in the state, aiming to develop strategies to mitigate these shortages, according to his campaign.

"I am staunchly opposed to the state takeover of local zoning, a battle crucial to preserving our local control here in Trumbull," Rutigliano said. "I am committed to exploring solutions that provide opportunities for our youth to remain in Connecticut and establish their own families. Trumbull is an exceptional community to reside in, and we must ensure our children have every reason to stay."

According to his campaign, Connecticut faces an affordability crisis, and Rutigliano has earned a reputation as a vocal advocate for the state's small business community.

Small business represents over 85 percent of all Connecticut businesses. Rutigliano has pushed for increased job training / work force development, reduced employer mandates, and lower taxes to revitalize Connecticut's economy and enhance affordability, according to his campaign.

This term, Rutigliano took on the responsibility of serving on the budget-writing Appropriations Committee, which helped craft a two-year state budget that included the largest tax cut for Connecticut families in the state’s history, according to his campaign.

During his term of service, Rutigliano has always had the interests of Trumbull in the forefront of his mind as he focuses on the important issues of economic growth, affordability, and public safety, according to his campaign.
