Security Guard Pepper Sprayed During Robbery: Trumbull PD
A juvenile pepper sprayed a security guard who was trying to detain her, police said.

TRUMBULL, CT — A Trumbull mall security guard was pepper sprayed by a juvenile shoplifter who was attempting to escape, according to police.
Shazia Depass, 21, and a female juvenile went to Macy's July 24 and took items without paying, said Lt. Brian Weir, police spokesman. Security guards confronted them and the juvenile pepper sprayed the guard, but ultimately was still detained until police arrived.
The security guard was treated at the scene by Trumbull EMS. Security recovered more than $500 worth of stolen clothing, Weir said.

Depass was charged with 5th-degree larceny. The female juvenile was transported to the hospital for minor injuries sustained during the struggle. She was charged with third-degree robbery and 5th-degree larceny.
