Sex Assault Charge at Trumbull Mall

A man was accused of inappropriately touching a juvenile, police said.

TRUMBULL, CT — A Bridgeport man was charged with sexual assault after he touched a juvenile at the mall, police said.

Two female juveniles were talking to Darren Thompson, 24, at Kay Jewelers April 8 when he told them they could get free jewelry if they knew someone who was 18-years-old or older who could sign up for a program.

The two called a friend who was 18-years-old to sign up.

Thompson met them at the Brookstone store and touched one of the girl's belly buttons when he was talking about an ab machine, according to police.

The girls went back to Kay Jewelers to get sign-up and later made a complaint about the belly button touching incident, police said.

He was charged with risk of injury to a minor and fourth-degree sexual assault.
