St. Joseph Cruises Into State Football Finals

TRUMBULL, CT — St. Joseph High School earned an opportunity to go for its 13th state football championship by trouncing third-seeded Rocky Hill 49-20 in a Class S semifinal matchup Sunday afternoon.

Head coach Joe Dellavecchia's troops, seeded No. 2, will play top-seeded and defending champion Ansonia for the title on Saturday, Dec. 9, at a location and time to be determined. The Chargers crushed No. 5 Stafford/East Windsor/Somers, 52-19.

The Cadets are 12-3 in state championship games, with their last win coming in 2014, while Ansonia boasts a 20-10 mark in state title contests.
