Stabbing At Trumbull Mall Leaves Teen Seriously Injured: Police

TRUMBULL, CT — A Bridgeport teen faces charges after he stabbed his younger brother in the parking lot of the Trumbull mall, according to police.

Jovanie Hall, 18, of Glen Circle, is charged with first-degree assault, carrying a dangerous weapon and breach of peace, police said.

The incident occurred around 8 p.m. Saturday in the parking lot of Westfield Trumbull mall, 5065 Main St., according to police. Hall, his 16-year-old brother, and a third sibling were walking in the lot when Hall began stabbing his brother, police said. Their sibling intervened, grabbing Hall and allowing the victim to escape and run back inside, according to police. Hall fled the scene before officers arrived, police said.

Several Trumbull officers patrolling the mall administered medical care to the boy, who suffered multiple stab wounds resulting in serious injuries, according to police. The 16-year-old was taken to St. Vincent’s Medical Center for treatment, police said.

“Trumbull Police have maintained an increased presence at the mall in recent weeks due to a series of incidents involving groups of disorderly youths who have caused disturbances, most often on weekends,” police said in a news release. “Additional officers will remain posted at the mall into the coming weeks.”

Hall, who suffered minor lacerations to his hand, was taken into custody at his home shortly after the incident and held on $250,000 bond, police said, adding Hall is set to appear Monday in court.
