Stolen Vehicle Recovered in Trumbull, Suspect Arrested: PD

The owner spotted his vehicle parked near the mall food court.

TRUMBULL, CT — A man was arrested after the owner of a stolen Kia Optima found the vehicle at the Trumbull mall, police said.

The owner noticed his vehicle parked near the food court and called police Dec. 30. The vehicle was stolen a few days prior.
Police arrived and saw no one go near the vehicle. They then scoped out the food court and saw a male go to the vehicle to put the windshield wipers up and then down, police said.

They confronted the man at his place of employment at a sandwich shop in the food court. He said a friend let him borrow the vehicle for the day and it must've been him who stole it, police said.
Officers didn't buy the story and Rafael Vazquez, 21, of Bridgeport was arrested and charged with second-degree larceny.
