Students 'Happy To Be Back' At School In Trumbull
Board of Education Chair Lucinda Timpanelli said there was "an air of excitement and anticipation" as Trumbull students returned to school.

TRUMBULL, CT — Students were "happy to be back" in their classrooms as they returned to school Tuesday morning in Trumbull.
Board of Education Chair Lucinda Timpanelli said she and board members Jackie Norcel, Lisa Nuland, Marie Petitti , Alison Squiccimarro and Chris Bandecchi visited the elementary and middle schools in town, as well as Trumbull High School.
"There was an air of excitement and anticipation," Timpanelli said in an email to Patch. "Some of us shared summer stories with the students and chatted with available staff."

Superintendent Martin Semmel also accompanied the group to various schools in town.
"It was a pleasure to see the enthusiasm and excitement that comes at the beginning of a new school year," Timpanelli said.

Police Lt. Brian Weir said officers did not encounter any issues regarding speeding or traffic safety in school areas during drop off and pick up times Tuesday.
"As far as I have heard, everything seemed to run smoothly during the first day of school for Trumbull," Weir said in an email. "There were no issues brought to the attention of the police, and nothing out of the ordinary has occurred."
In a Facebook post Monday, police also encouraged drivers in town be extra cautious at bus stops and pay attention for students on roads.
