Teen Assaulted At Trumbull Mall, Arrests Made: PD

The teen was chased through several stores and was beaten by two other teens, police said.

TRUMBULL, CT — Two 14-year-old boys from Bridgeport were arrested after they beat up a 15-year-old boy who had made a rude remark to a girl, according to police.

Police were dispatched to the mall Saturday around 5:50 p.m. for a reported assault. The 15-year-old boy was being taken care of by security staff, said Lt. Doug Smith, police spokesman. The 15-year-old had made a rude remark to a 13-year-old girl.

The 13-year-old girl gathered several of her friends including the two arrestees, police said. A total of six youths chased hte victim through several stores and eventually ended up outside. The 13-year-old girl threw drink onto the victim and the two arrestees cornered the victim and began to beat him, Smith said.

Security guards stopped the assault. During the assault one of the arrestees pulled the victim's cellphone from his pocket and threw it into the grass nearby where it was recovered by police. The 13-year-old girl wasn't charged and was released to her parents.

The two 14-year-old boys were charged with third-degree robbery and third-degree assault.
