Teen Shot In Trumbull
The teen suffers from a mental health disability and sometimes displays violent behavior, police said.

TRUMBULL, CT — An 18-year-old Trumbull resident was shot after he forced his way into a neighbor's home on Shelton Road Thursday evening.
A struggle ensued between the teen and 72-year-old homeowner.
"The homeowner, fearing for his family’s safety, shot the male once, with his legally owned handgun, striking him in the abdomen," said Capt. Keith Golding, police spokesman.

The teen was treated at the scene and taken to Bridgeport Hospital where he was listed in stable condition.

Just prior to the shooting several people called 911 to report a man who was running in the street attempting to stop several passing cars.
"The male was later identified as a nearby resident who suffers from a mental health disability that displays erratic and sometimes violent behavior," Golding said. "He may also have been affected by the severe weather at the time of the incident."
The homeowner was cooperative with police and no charges have been filed against either person as of Friday morning.
