Tesoro Statement On Trumbull Park Assault
A 60-year-old man was beaten in what appears to be an attempted robbery over the weekend.

TRUMBULL, CT — First Selectman Vicki Tesoro issued a statement after a 60-year-old man was assaulted by three people in Twin Brooks Park over the weekend in what appears to be an attempted robbery.
"My heart goes out to the victim, his family, and his friends. Public safety is my number one priority and, while crimes like this are rare in our community, they will not be tolerated," she said.
Police are following up on several leads, including possible video of the vehicle that was used by the assailants.

"We will not rest until the perpetrators of this reprehensible act are arrested. I am confident our police will find those responsible," she said.
The victim was punched in the head by one assailant and kicked several times while down on the ground by the assailant and two others. They demanded money and left when the victim said he didn't have any. The victim sustained minor injuries.

Police are urging park patrons to be cautious while enjoying the outdoors. Park goers are encouraged to walk with a partner when possible and to walk to in populated areas and avoid secluded ones. Police also ask people to carry a cellphone and to remain aware of their surroundings.
