Trumbull Announces Updated 2026 Memorial Day Activities, Parade Information

The town's 2026 Memorial Day activities and parade are scheduled to take place on Monday, May 25.

TRUMBULL, CT — First Selectman Vicki Tesoro has announced some updated information regarding activities and the parade scheduled to take place in Trumbull on Memorial Day, which falls on May 25 this year.

According to the town website, a ceremony previously scheduled for 8 a.m. at the Vietnam Memorial on White Plains Road will now take place later that day at a time that has not been determined yet.

Instead, veterans will raise a flag at the new flagpole on the Long Hill Green at 8 a.m. on Memorial Day, and all are welcome to attend to dedicate the new flagpole, according to the town.

The Town Hall ceremony will honor parade Grand Marshal Susan Stuban Monks, JD, an attorney, educator and former Naval officer whose career spans maritime operations, law and higher education, according to the town.

"A lieutenant in the United States Naval Reserves from 1978-1991, she actively drilled with the Naval Control of Shipping Unit 601, New Haven, Connecticut as a training officer," the town website reads. "She was actively deployed in 1985 as the Operations Officer/Navigator for Maritime Prepositioning Squadron 2, onboard the flagship, MV Cpl. Louis J. Hauge Jr."

She continues to serve the veteran community as vice president of the Western Connecticut Military Officers Association, chairing the annual Young American Awardee scholarship banquet honoring patriotic high school graduating seniors, according to the town.

The parade will step off at 10 a.m., beginning at the new shopping plaza, Long Hill Market and ending at Town Hall.

The town will fly flags on Main Street from Memorial Day until Sept. 11.

Anyone who wishes to sponsor a flag can find a purchase form here.

"You may purchase a flag in honor of a soldier currently serving, a current veteran, or in memory of a soldier who is deceased," the announcement reads. "Anyone can sponsor a flag in honor of all soldiers. The names of those being remembered or honored will appear in the program."

The town will also hold a contest to create a theme for the parade for Trumbull residents in grades 6, 7 and 8. More information is available here.
