Trumbull BOE Approves Budget Increase

The BOE reduced a proposed increase by the superintendent.

The Trumbull Board of Education approved a 2.79 percent increase from the current budget for the 2016-2017 school system budget.

Superintendent Dr. Gary Ciafi requested an effective 3.18 percent increase, but the board reduced that by .38 percent, according to the Trumbull Times. The proposed budget would be $99,933,178.

The next step is for the Board of Finance to decide.

$100,000 out of a proposed $198,000 was cut from to eliminate pay-to-participate fees. Another $150,000 was effectively saved by eliminated two out of three proposed elementary level technology integration specialists.
