TRUMBULL, CT — The 2019 municipal election is heating up in Trumbull and there are plenty of races with candidates eager to serve in elected office.

Trumbull Patch asked candidates to answer questions about their campaigns and will be publishing candidate profiles as election day draws near.

Mary Markham is running for town clerk as a Democrat. She has three children who were born and raised in town and six grandchildren, two of whom live in Trumbull. She was the director of recreation from 1998 to 2016 and a registrar of voters since January 2019.

What are the critical differences between you and the other candidates
seeking this post?

My experience working with and for the people of Trumbull. I have worked in the Town Clerks office on a temporary basis for 6 months and have worked with and for the election process since 1991. I have lived in Trumbull all my life.

List other issues that define your campaign platform:

A stable tax rate and high quality education are extremely important but so too is a strong sense of community.

What accomplishments in your past would you cite as evidence you can handle this job?

As Director of Recreation I instituted many new programs for a very diverse population from senior citizens, teens, children and residents with special needs.

I worked tirelessly for the community seven days per week to personally oversee our numerous programs and recreational facilities.

What else would you like voters to know about yourself and your positions?

I have dedicated most of my adult life to serving the Town of Trumbull in one form or another and would consider it an honor to continue doing so.
