Trumbull Democrats Will Face Uphill Battle Against Herbst

The party hasn't nominated a candidate yet, but some names are floating around.

Trumbull Democrats will face an uphill battle in a battle for the First Selectman post.

Last time First Selectman Tim Herbst ran for re-election he won with about 70 percent of the vote, according to the Connecticut Post.

The town has slightly more than 6,000 Republicans, 6,000 Democrats and about 11,500 unaffiliated voters.

Names floating around for the Democratic nomination include Planning nad Zoning Commission member Fred Garrity Jr. and former state Sen. Anthony Musto.

Herbst said he intends to run on his record as first selectman. Herbst lost a close race for state treasurer last year against longtime incumbent Denise Nappier.
