Trumbull Doctor Loses Multi-Million Dollar Medical Malpractice Lawsuit
A jury found that medical malpractice led a young women to lose her leg.

TRUMBULL, CT—A woman who lost her leg at 18-years-old was awarded millions of dollars in a medical malpractice lawsuit.
A jury found that Dr. Marsel Huribal and Southern Connecticut Vascular Center were negligent for the treatment of Virginia Schneider, now 23-years-old, according to a Superior Court jury's decision.
The total damages caused by Huribal and the center was found to be $14.95 million, according to court documents.

Total negligence attributed to Huribal and the center was 60 percent, according to court documents.
Griffin Hospital and other doctors were found to be 35 percent negligent and another five percent for another doctor and Imaging on Call.

Schneider also settled a lawsuit against Griffin Hospital for an undisclosed sum, according to the Connecticut Post.
Schneider went to Huribal after experiencing pain in her leg that turned out to be a blood clot. Huribal didn't diagnose the clot and neither did staff at Griffin Hospital when the pain became worse, according to the lawsuit.
