Trumbull High Graduation Plan Criticized By Parents, Students
The school superintendent said the plan is a work in progress and changes could be made.
TRUMBULL, CT — Trumbull High School's graduation plan is potentially changing after an outpouring of criticism from students.
Interim Superintendent Ralph Iassogna wrote to the school community May 29 that the school system will potentially make changes to the plan if it can stay within state protocol for gatherings, according to the Trumbull Times.
Trumbull High Principal Mark Guarino wrote to students and parents that students and families would come to the campus in different time slots to accommodate more than 500 graduates.

"“While this ceremony will be different than in years past, we will be able to provide our students the opportunity to be on our campus, have their name be called in the presence of family members, have a professional picture taken and receive their diploma jacket and program," Guarino wrote.
An online petition to change the plan garnered more than 2,200 signatures.

"Now more than ever, it is not time to turn a blind eye to your students in not commencing their graduation the right way," wrote petition organizer Nolan Shay. Us and our fellow classmates have worked far too hard over the past 12 years and a drive-thru graduation ceremony does not do justice to all that hard work."
