Trumbull Hires Fairfield School Principal To Run Booth Hill School

TRUMBULL, CT — Kevin Chase, principal of Mill Hill Elementary School in Fairfield for the past 16 years, is leaving the district to become the principal at another elementary school, Booth Hill School in Trumbull.

His new job in Trumbull begins on July 1, according to Dr. Martin Semmel, superintendent of Trumbull Public Schools.

"We had a strong applicant pool for this position and Mr. Chase emerged as the top candidate because of his leadership experience, commitment to student success, depth of instructional knowledge, and communication skills," Semmel said in a statement. "We are confident that Booth Hill Elementary will continue to flourish under Mr. Chase’s leadership."

At Mill Hill, Chase oversees a school with more than 400 students, which was twice named a National PTA School of Excellence during his tenure.

The school received a $23 million expansion in 2021, and in 2023, Mill Hill Elementary was also named a U.S. Department of Education Green Ribbon School

In Trumbull, Chase will be called upon to build upon a strong foundation at Booth Hill, by instilling "a collaborative and inclusive school community where every student feels valued and supported."

Chase intends to do that by "building upon academic programs, promoting social-emotional learning and fostering partnerships with parents and community members."

He brings more than 20 years of experience in various education leadership roles to the new job, and said he is looking forward to the new challenge.

"I am honored to lead Booth Hill Elementary School," Chase said. "Together, we will continue to provide an exceptional educational experience for our students."

Added Trumbull Board of Education Chair Lucinda Timpanelli, "Mr. Chase will bring a wealth of experience and innovation to all of the students, staff, and families at Booth Hill Elementary."

Chase is scheduled to be introduced in Trumbull at Tuesday's Board of Education meeting.
