Summer vacation season may now be over, but for anyone still looking to enjoy a weekly mini-getaway from the busyness of everyday life, Trumbull Congregational Church has the perfect answer.
In response to popular demand, the church has renewed its “Wellness Wednesdays at TCC” series, which features a variety of different activities aimed at addressing the mind, body and spirit. The secular programs, which are scheduled through December 16, take place at the church at 3115 Reservoir Avenue and are open to all members of the community, with no prior experience required for any of the activities.
“The overall objective of this series is to enable participants to take a pause, unwind and connect with one another,” says Kirsten Nestro, a Trauma-informed Certified Instructor in Mindfulness Meditation who will again be leading four of the sessions. “By giving attendees the chance to relax, learn and be creative, we hope they will leave feeling lighter and refreshed.”
The sessions, which all begin at 6 p.m., will run either one or two hours and cost between $10 and $65, depending on the activity. Accompanied by pianist Piotr Kozłowski, Sidney will present the Connecticut premiere of 26 Ways of Looking at a Black Man, with music by B.E. Boykin and poetry by Raymond Patterson. Sidney is an extraordinary artist whose career has taken him to some of the country’s most celebrated stages—but just as remarkable is the warmth, generosity, and humanity he brings into every room. About the Artists
Baritone Sidney Outlaw has been described by The Washington Post as a "generous &amp; expressive singer", The New York Times as a "terrific singer" with a "deep rich timber," and an internationally acclaimed vocalist for his "weighty and forthright" singing (San Francisco Chronicle). Since winning the Concurso International de Canto Montserrat Caballe in 2010, he has performed widely in the US and abroad. In the 2024/2025 season, Sidney performed recitals with pianist Warren Jones at the Brooklyn Art Song Society and The Manhattan School of Music. He debuted with the California Symphony, singing Beethoven's Symphony No. 9, and with the Bozeman Symphony, singing Mozart's Requiem. He also returned to the Jacksonville Symphony for Handel's Messiah. On the operatic stage, he reprises the role of Mozart in Le Nozze di Figaro and Don Giovanni with Pensacola Opera and Opera Philadelphia. Last year, Sidney released his album, Black Pierrot, featuring music by William Grant Still and Dr. B.E. Boykin, including the world premiere of 26 Ways of Looking at a Black Man, with text by poet Raymond Patterson (Commissioned by Merola Opera), which was recently nominated for a Grammy award. Sidney’s recent highlights include performances with Boston Baroque, Chattanooga Symphony, Toledo Opera, National Symphony and appearances at NYC’s Carnegie Hall and Avery Fisher Hall. He currently holds voice faculty positions at the Manhattan School of Music, The Conservatory at Brooklyn College (CUNY) and Teachers College, Columbia University, where he is pursuing his PhD in Music Education.&nbsp;
Piotr Kozlowski is a versatile Polish pianist and educator with a strong focus on chamber and contemporary music. He is deeply committed to creative programming and to presenting classical and contemporary repertoire. A laureate of chamber music and solo piano competitions, Piotr has performed widely across Europe and North America. He studied at the Fryderyk Chopin University of Music in Warsaw and completed his doctoral degree in piano performance at the Frost School of Music, University of Miami, where he also served as a Graduate Teaching Assistant under the mentorship of Kevin Kenner. As an Erasmus scholarship recipient, he studied chamber music with Avedis Kouyoumdjian at the University of Music and Performing Arts in Vienna. He held fellowships at the Bowdoin International Music Festival and the Lunenburg Academy of Music Performance. Now based in New York City, Piotr maintains an active international freelance career. He has premiered works by Jonathan Howard Katz, Donald Scott Stinson, and other living composers. He serves as Staff Pianist at Manhattan School of Music, Piano Mentor at tonebase and has an affinity for Baroque, Classical and 20th-century repertoire.

Annual Folks on Spokes &amp; Step Forward Ride + Walk event is planned for Sunday, October 4, 2026, from 8:00 am to 2 pm at Fowler Field in downtown Milford. 
As one of Connecticut’s longest running charitable events, cyclists and walkers come together to raise funds and awareness for mental health and addiction recovery in support of Bridges Healthcare’s services. Participants of all ages can enjoy the scenic Milford coastline by riding 5, 10, 20, or 40 mile routes or walking a 5K. This family-friendly event includes activities for kids, music, lunch, event t-shirts, and a special remembrance ceremony to honor lives lost to suicide and overdose.
Early registration discounts are available through August 31, 2026. From September 1-October 1, 2026 advanced registration fees are $50 per cyclist, $35 per walker, $15 for kids under 18. Children 6 and under are free.

Shelton Day 2026 – A Day of Family Fun, Food & Entertainment!

In most households today, pets are considered important members of the family, which is why Trumbull Congregational Church (TCC) plans to once again welcome them to a special “Blessing of the Animals” ceremony on Sunday, October 4, that is open to all local residents. 

The 3 p.m. outdoor event at the church, located at 3115 Reservoir Avenue, will be led by Pastor Todd Shipley (above), accompanied by his own pet, a dachshund cleverly named Henry Houndsworth Longfellow. 
In addition to owners having their pet personally blessed, those who make a modest donation will be able to get a certificate with the paw print of their cat, dog, rabbit or other animal.
Attendees will also be able to acquire pet toys and dog treats from representatives of <a href="https://woofgangco.org/" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">Team Woofgang &amp; Co.</a>, a Fairfield-based non-profit organization that provides vocational skill training to adults with a wide range of intellectual and developmental disabilities. 
The event will further feature refreshments, a bake sale and a live performance of some of the music that distinguishes TCC’s weekly services. Each Sunday Music Director Ilana Ofgang routinely integrates secular songs with spiritual themes by such artists as Billy Joel, Adele, the Beatles, Leonard Cohen, U2 and Reba McEntire.

The Fairfield Chamber of Commerce is happy to announce that its annual “Fairfield Harvest Market” event, will be held on the Old Town Hall Green, (corner of Old Post Road and Beach Road) on Saturday, October 17th, and is now accepting vendor applications.
The Fairfield Chamber of Commerce heralds the start of the autumn season by welcoming vendors, both business &amp; artisan, who want the opportunity to reach Fairfield and area residents, on the historic Old Town Hall Green, where they will display their products and items to the general public. The much-anticipated Halloween Costume Dog Parade will be held again this year at noon, so pet-related vendors are also invited with their pooch-related items!
Last year, 2025, the event featured more than 80 well-known and unique retail vendors, along with a variety of food trucks, and Fairfield Rotary’s Beer Garden! Shoppers and visitors stroll along the pathways enjoying music, food and making purchases – even buying gifts for the upcoming 2026 holidays!
Hurry up! The Fairfield Chamber of Commerce is currently accepting vendor applications and encouraging vendors to contact the Chamber as soon as possible, as the remaining spots fill up quickly.

Join the Stepney Volunteer Fire Co. No. 1 Inc. for a fun-filled Bingo Night fundraiser on Saturday, October 17, 2026, at Station One, 88 Main Street, Monroe.
Doors open at 5:30 PM and Bingo begins at 6:30 PM.
We’re excited to welcome American Ninja Warrior’s Joe “The Weatherman” Moravsky as our celebrity Bingo caller!

Calling all mental health professionals!Understanding the emotional, legal and financial issues clients face when contemplating or navigating divorce.Clients often begin talking about divorce in the therapy room, before they fully understand what the path ahead may involve.This program brings together an interdisciplinary team of professionals trained in mediation and collaborative divorce — Jennifer Luise Champagne, LPC; Rosemarie Ferrante, JD, collaborative attorney and mediator; and Hollis Hardiman, CDFA®, Certified Divorce Financial Analyst to provide clinicians with a broader understanding of the emotional, legal and financial dimensions of divorce.Through discussion and practical examples, the program will explore emotional readiness, divorce process options, financial considerations, and the distinct roles of professionals who may support individuals and families through the transition. The goal is to help clinicians understand who does what in the divorce process and which professional resources may be appropriate for their clients’ particular needs, while maintaining clear professional roles and boundaries.&nbsp;

Bring your sensitive documents to be shredded on-site. Reasonable pricing and easy drive-thru service. STRATFORD ROTARY WILL BE THERE FOR YOUR SHREDDING NEEDS RAIN OR SHINE - 9am - 12pm (or until the truck is full) We also collect Electronics and Battery recycling! Donations requested. 
How it works: 
1. Drive up to the truck and a Rotarian will remove the shredding items from your car and deliver them directly to the shredding truck. You can stay and watch or simply drive away. Shredding occurs on location! 
2. Make your payment to the Rotarian Volunteer. All proceeds go to Stratford Student Scholarships, Grants to local non-profits, and community events ($10 small, $20 Medium, $30 Large Box)
3. Drive away happy and confident your sensitive information is securely destroyed. Shredding Certificates are available upon request. Prices: $10 small bag (grocery Plastic/paper bag) $20 Medium Container (bankers' box) $30 Large Container (Plastic tubs) $100 Fill a shred bin (65gallon rolling trash can at shredding location) All donation proceeds support Student Scholarships, Non-Profit Grants, and Community Events Supported by the Stratford Rotary Club and Foundation.
