Trumbull To Host for World Suicide Prevention Day Candlelight Vigil
A Trumbull-based non-profit organization will hold its second annual "A Night To Shine Your Light" candlelight vigil this month.
TRUMBULL, CT — My Friend Abby, a Trumbull-based non-profit organization, will hold its second annual "A Night To Shine Your Light" candlelight vigil this month.
The free community event will take palce Sept. 9 at 6:30 p.m. at the Trumbull Town Gazebo, located on Churchill Road, on the eve of World Suicide Prevention Day, according to the town's Facebook page.
Community members are invited to join the organization, along with Trumbull EMS, TPAUD Trumbull’s Prevention Partnership, the Trumbull Rotary Club, the Mary J. Sherlach Counseling Center and Here 2 Help, as they gather to light a candle and ring a bell in remembrance of those affected by suicide while promoting suicide prevention awareness.

The event will also include a moment of silence, guest speakers and some light refreshments.
"We are all affected by a suicide loss or crisis, and we can all be advocates for suicide prevention," a description on the town's Facebook page reads. "Help us to shine a light and join in for this important community event. You will also be letting people who are struggling know that they are not alone, and there is hope and healing."
