Trumbull Man Drove Intoxicated with Child in Car: PD

The child at one point had to wake the operator up when he slumped over the wheel, police said.

TRUMBULL, CT—Police arrested a local man after he was found to be driving while intoxicated with a child in the front seat, according to police.

Police got a complaint of an erratic driver on Church Hill Road Nov. 19. A 7-year-old boy was in the front seat without a seat belt, police said.

The vehicle stopped in the middle of an intersection with no headlights on and the driver was slumped over the steering wheel. The boy signaled to the driver to wake up and pointed in a direction.

At one point the vehicle crossed into an opposing lane of traffic and other vehicles had to evade, police said.

Police pulled the vehicle over and driver Michael Biggar, 40, had difficulty putting the vehicle into park and at one point put it into reverse and began to roll back. He admitted to taking drugs before driving, police said.

He refused a urine test and was charged with DUI and risk of injury to a minor.
