Trumbull Man Sentenced for Fatal DUI Crash
A man who was elected to the Town Council and resigned shortly after will receive prison time.

TRUMBULL, CT—Trumbull resident Robert McGowan was sentenced to a four-year prison term after he pleaded guilty to causing a fatal crash in New Jersey.
The incident happened in October 2011 in Westfield, N.J., according to NBC Connecticut.
McGowan won a seat on the Town Council shortly before he was indicted on the charge in November 2015. He resigned shortly after.

McGowan was indicted on a vehicular homicide charge last year in connection with an accident that killed Peter Tyliczka, 69, of Old Bridge on Oct. 1, 2011.
Trumbull First Selectman Tim Herbst asked for McGowen to resign and within an hour he received his resignation.
