Trumbull Native Kevin Sutherland Laid to Rest Monday
Sutherland's funeral was held Monday at St. Jude Roman Catholic Church in Monroe.
About 225 people attended the Monday funeral of Kevin Sutherland, 24, who was killed in a Washington, D.C. stabbing on July 4.
Sutherland’s father Doug Sutherland delivered the eulogy, according to the Connecticut Post. He said his son was a sensitive man who could feel the pain of others. He chose a path in politics to fight for things like equality, justice and an end to poverty.
The murder suspect, Jasper Spires, 18, may have been on synthetic marijuana during the brutal attack. D.C. Mayor Muriel Bowser signed a law that inflicts new penalties on businesses that sell the drug.
