Trumbull Police Blotter: April 1 To 6

TRUMBULL, CT — Below are some recent arrests by Trumbull Police in early April.

Larceny Arrest

A Bridgeport man was arrested after he stole his former employer’s credit card and used it to make more than $4,000 in unauthorized charges, according to police.

The owner of a local company reported to police in November 2019 that a gas credit card was missing and there had been fraudulent activity dating back to May 2019.

Hector Rojas-Merino, a former employee had taken the card and used it, police said. He was arrested by police on April 6 and charged with third-degree larceny, theft of a credit card and receipt of stolen goods.

DUI Arrest

Police arrested a man who fell asleep at the wheel with his car in drive, according to police.

Officers went to the area of Wildrose Lane and Fox Wood Road April 4 on a report of a passed out driver. They found Christopher Costa, 41, of Shelton. They were able to wake him after several attempts.

Officers found a bottle of vodka that was three-quarters empty between Costa’s legs, according to police.

Costa failed field sobriety tests. His blood alcohol level was measured at .301 and .300, both more than three times the legal limit, police said. He was charged with DUI.

DUI Arrest

Officers arrested a Newtown man after he was found to be driving while under the influence, according to police.

A caller told police that an operator had passed out behind the wheel in the area of Route 127 and Daniels Farm Road April 1. The driver woke up and drove away.

Officers later found the described vehicle and pulled it over. Operator Ryan Southard, 28, failed field sobriety tests and was placed under arrest. Police found a syringe and an empty wax fold consistent with heroin use, police said.

Southard was taken to police headquarters where he refused to provide a urine sample, police said. He was charged with DUI.
