Trumbull Praised For Town's Financial Reporting

The award was given by the Government Finance Officers Association of the U.S. and Canada.

TRUMBULL, CT — Trumbull recently was awarded a Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting by the Government Finance Officers Association of the United States and Canada, First Selectman Vicki Tesoro announced late Monday.

The town received the award for its annual comprehensive financial report for the fiscal year ended June 30, 2020, which was judged by an impartial panel to meet the high standards of the program.

It is the sixth consecutive year Trumbull has received the recognition.

The criteria for recognition include demonstrating a constructive "spirit of full disclosure" to clearly communicate the community's financial story and motivate potential users and user groups to read the report.

"Our team works tirelessly to provide the citizens of Trumbull with timely financial information," Tesoro said. "Their dedication, together with our commitment to sound fiscal planning, maintaining a healthy fund balance, and preserving our strong bond rating, puts Trumbull on solid financial footing."

The Certificate of Achievement is the highest form of recognition in the area of governmental
accounting and financial reporting, and its attainment represents a significant accomplishment by a government and its management, officials said.
