Trumbull Robbery Suspect Nabbed After Pursuit: PD
He nearly ran over a mall security guard, police said.

TRUMBULL, CT — Officers arrested a Bridgeport man after a robbery at the Trumbull mall and a short pursuit, according to police.
Dennis Stewart, 57, fled the mall and assaulted a security officer after stealing more than $1,300 worth of merchandise from the JCPenney store Aug. 27, police said.
He drove toward another security officer after he got inside his vehicle. The officer had to jump out of the way.

He also nearly struck several pedestrians and other vehicles during his getaway, police said.
Police pursued the vehicle as he exited the mall via the Main Street exit ramp. He traveled into Bridgeport where he crashed his vehicle near Noble Avenue and Hawthrone Street and fled on foot.

Stewart was located a short time later by Trumbull Police and was taken into custody. He was found to be in possession of cocaine, police said.
He was charged with third-degree robbery, fourth-degree larceny, interfering with police, possession of narcotics and several motor vehicle offenses. He was held on a $50,000 bond.
