Trumbull RTC Announces First Selectman, Town Clerk Candidates

The committee has announced a "unity ticket" consisting of republican, democratic and unaffiliated candidates for this fall's election.

TRUMBULL, CT — The Trumbull Republican Town Committee has announced a "unity ticket" consisting of republican, democratic and unaffiliated candidates put forth during the committee's biennial caucus this week.

According to a news release provided by the committee, the organization gathered Wednesday night to nominate their slate of candidates for the Nov. 7 municipal election.

Committee members nominated Republican David Pia as a candidate for first selectman, as well as Democrat John DelVecchio for treasurer and unaffiliated candidate Lisa Tesei Valenti for town clerk.

According to the committee, all three candidates were nominated "in the spirit of unity in an effort to [do] what is best for all in the town of Trumbull" and noted the ticket consisting of three highly qualified candidates from diverse political backgrounds is intended to represent the town as a whole.

"The 'Top of the Ticket' represents a solid leadership team that served the town of Trumbull over the last 20 years by working in concert with each other," the committee said in a news release. "David, Lisa and John, regardless of party affiliation, are committed to doing what is best for the town. As Mr. Pia is famous for saying, 'a good idea is a good idea.'"
