Trumbull RTC Thanks Voters for a Smooth Election

Trumbull Republican Town Committee Chairman Jack Testani gives his thoughts on the election.

To the Editor:

The election on November 8 was of historical proportions for the United States, Connecticut and of course Trumbull. Donald Trump was elected 45th President and deserves the respect and attention of any President. The country decided on a Republian Congress and Senate that will give President-Elect Trump an opportunity to implement many programs that helped him to victory. In Connecticut and in Trumbull, the votes for Republicans were overwhelming that resulted in a 18-18 tie in the State Senate and a much closer vote in the State House of Representatives. In Trumbull, all incumbent Republican State Represenatives won and current Board of Finance Chairman/Elaine Hammers had a respectable showing against State Senator Marilyn Moore who won reelection. Congratulations to Hillary Clinton for a very competitive race and for her years of service to our country.

On behalf of the Trumbull Republican Town Committee (TRTC), we would like to thank the voters of Trumbull and all those who made this election run so smoothly. Voters came to the polls in overwhelming numbers and all involved are to be congratulated. Thank you to all those who opened their doors to us as we campaigned. We thank you for listening to our message. We thank all of those who placed a candidate's sign on their lawn, and for reading our campaign literature. We thank you for taking the time to talk to us when we called you on the telephone to discuss issues of vital importance to Trumbull, Connecticut and the United States.

In the coming year, Trumbull's Republican Party will continue the effort to work toward our goals of raising public awareness of Town issues. We plan to capitalize on the movement across the country of government that has lower taxes, less regulation and continued fiscal resposbility. In Town government, sound Board of Education policies, public safety enhancements and continued exapnsion of the grand list to enhance econmic development will continue.

Join me as we strive to make our Town the jewel of Connecticut. Residents who may be interested in joining this effort are invited to visit the TRTC web site (www.trumbullgop.org) or come to one of our monthly meetings.
